Happy 4th Birthday

My darling boy,

It’s finally here, the day you have anxiously been waiting for, for weeks! You are now 4 years old.

In your words, you are a big boy now! Gone are the nappies, the pacifiers and the bottles. Instead we now have Darth Vader, The Paw Patrol and Pirates invading our home. But just in case I forget, you never fail to remind me that you are in fact my baby.

S, you are such a joy to be around. You laugh for no reason, you have the cheekiest smile and you do great impersonations! You also have a temper, you speak to me the way I speak to you (that’s not always a good thing) and you have no qualms about telling me how it is. But your frowns are easily turned upside down! You are such a playful 4 year old, constantly wanting to play hide and seek. While it can get tiring (for me!), especially right before bedtime, I hope you always keep your sense of playfulness, because life is serious enough as it is.

I hope you always see yourself through my eyes. That you love yourself as much as I love you. That you believe in yourself as much as I believe in you and that you trust your capabilities as much as I trust them. You are a bright spark, a firecracker, a force to be reckoned with. That doesn’t always make  being a mama easy, but it’s most certainly teaching me. You teach me, everyday. You make me question myself, you make me want to be a better person. More patient, more tolerant, stronger, more compassionate and more understanding. And for that I’m grateful.

Happy 4th birthday baby boy, I don’t know how we got here so quickly but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Love you infinitely,

Mama xxx
